Important information for families who have moved or are new to the district

The district is urging parents of students who are new to the district or those who need to update their address to take action now so their child will receive details about transportation and other important information for the upcoming school year.

  • ┬áParents of high school students who need to register for a school or change their address should take address verification and other required documents to their assigned high school no later than July 18 to assure that their child will be included in transportation planning. School office staff will be on duty, but it is recommended that parents call before going to the schools.
  • Parents of elementary and middle school students who need to register for a school or change their address should bring address verification and other required documents to their assigned school or to the district Student Assignment Office by July 18. Over the summer, many, but not all elementary schools, will be open through July 24 for summer programs. Most middle schools, except for Carwise, Clearwater Fundamental, Tyrone and Tarpon Springs, will be open through July 25. Please call your child’s school to make sure that it is open and before going there to register or complete registration.
  • Parents or students who think they may be experiencing a homeless situation should call (727) 588-6305 or visit www.pcsb.org/homeless-education for additional information regarding rights, services, transportation, enrollment and documentation.

Parents can find their child’s zoned school by using the Zoned School Locator.

Address verification documents include a utility bill for power, water, cable, sewer or land-based telephone; rental agreement or lease; closing document; or Pinellas County tax statement with homestead exemption. The district is recommending that parents provide two forms of verification. If parents or guardians do not have any of these items, they must submit a notarized Affidavit of Residency.

The first day of school for Pinellas County Schools is Monday, Aug. 19. Students must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013, to attend kindergarten.

For more information about the registration process, call Student Assignment, at (727) 588-6210, or visit the district’s New Student Reservation page. Beginning June 10, Student Assignment’s summer hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
