JROTC team wins four first places at recent Raider competition

The Boca Ciega female JROTC Raider team won four first place awards in the Catoosa Challenge 2013 held at the Catoosa Training Center in Ringgold, Ga., a Tennessee National Guard center along the Georgia, Tennessee state line.

There were more than 40 teams representing 20 schools at the competition, which was held Sept. 28.

JROTC teams competed for awards in eight events: team run, confidence course, water can relay race, one-rope-bridge, gauntlet, combat casualty rescue, log carry race, and a sandbag relay event.

The Boca Ciega female Raider team won first place in the team run, water can relay, combat casualty rescue and the log carry race. The team won second in the gauntlet competition and third in the sandbag challenge and one-rope bridge competitions.

“The team worked the whole summer and their success speaks volumes about their dedication,” said 1st Sgt. Michael Braccio, of Boca Ciega’s JROTC team.  “The girls are on a mission to win state championship.”

Team members were: Isabella Blain, Korina  Konciute, Naomi Larkins, Sarah Latelers, Aubrey Premer, Chloe Rankin, Desirae Rouse, Alexis Stevens, Mikaela Williams, Dominique Johnson, Gabrielle Munoz and Alexis Stevens.
