Students from across the district delivered an impressive performance at the Florida History Day State Contest, held May 3–5. After advancing from the Pinellas History Day competition, they went on to compete against top students from around Florida—and they truly rose to the challenge. Their dedication resulted in multiple first-, second-, and third-place awards across a wide range of categories. Several students earned top honors, securing first- and second-place finishes that qualify them to advance to the National History Day competition this June at the University of Maryland.

Pinellas Park High School marked an exciting achievement as its First Responders Program FPSA Fire Fighting Team earned the title of Top Fire Fighting Chapter in Florida. The honor reflects the dedication and perseverance of the students and instructors who committed countless hours to mastering the rigorous skills required in fire service training.

Hollins High Area 9 Drill Team Champions

CSM Rivera Rivera proudly recognized the Hollins High JROTC Drill Team for winning the Area 9 Drill Team Championship and for their dedication, discipline, and teamwork—qualities that continue to set the standard of excellence for both the school and JROTC program.

Osceola Fundamental High School Warrior Mock Trial Team

The Osceola Fundamental High School Warrior Mock Trial Team concluded their inaugural season with a standout performance at the Florida High School Mock Trial Finals Competition, held in Orlando. Representing Pinellas County Schools and Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, the team competed against 18 of the top mock trial programs from across the state.

Pinellas County Model United Nations Conference Showcases Collaboration and Compromise

Nearly 400 middle and high school students from across Pinellas County gathered on Friday, March 27, for the Pinellas County Model United Nations (PCMUN) Conference, hosted by St. Petersburg College in partnership with Foundations for Leadership. The conference provided students with an immersive experience in diplomacy, problem-solving, and civic engagement.

FCCLA State competition - Largo High Team

12 students from Largo High School traveled to Orlando to compete at FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America). The team won 7 gold and 4 silver medals.

Mayor of St. Petersburg visits Enterprise Village

On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the Mayor of St. Petersburg visited Enterprise Village. During the visit, the Mayor met with students from Fairmount Park and Seminole Elementary schools as they worked in simulated businesses, earning paychecks, managing finances, and learning how businesses and consumers interact in a real-world economy.

On Friday, February 20, 2026. Mr. Telia B. Hann (Azalea Elementary Physical Education Teacher) was recognized as the VFW Elementary Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Hann, the VFW Post 10304 winner, received a certificate and a $250 check.

Mangrove Bay Middle School Manatees made a splash at the Speer YMCA swimming pool as part of our new Aquatics Initiative & Partnership. As a District Application Program focused on Health, Wellness, and Leadership, we are excited to partner with the Speer YMCA to bring our mission to life.

Through this collaboration, the students are participating in swimming assessments that open the door to swimming lessons and future lifeguard certification opportunities. 

PPHS First Responder Program

On September 15th, Pinellas Park High School hosted an amazing event organized by a community effort between Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital and the PPHS First Responder Program. Ms. Petrie arranged for the Stop the Bleed course to be given to all 290 first responder students and 90 HOPE students, and by the end of the day, all of those who were present were certified.

Veterans Day at Garrison Jones Elementary

Garrison Jones Elementary honored Veterans Day with a heartfelt celebration that brought the school community together in gratitude. The morning began with a special breakfast provided by the PTA, giving students and veterans a chance to connect and share stories. The day continued with a schoolwide assembly where students paid tribute to the veterans in attendance, recognizing their service and sacrifice.

Paul B. Stephens students learned about boating and water safety, played baseball, had the opportunity to experience a fire truck, and learned about being a sheriff during the Great American Teach-in.

St. Petersburg High School Swim and Dive Teams

The St. Petersburg High School women’s and men’s swim and dive teams wrapped up an extraordinary season on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the State Championships in Ocala. Both teams dominated throughout the regular season with undefeated 9–0 records and went on to capture district and regional titles. At the state level, the women’s team earned an impressive second runner‑up finish to Ponte Vedra, while the men secured their best team result in a decade, placing 8th overall.

Seminole High School Warhawk Marching Band won the FFCC Class 4A State Championship

The Seminole High School Warhawk Marching Band won the FFCC Class 4A State Championship in The Villages, Florida. Seminole High School is the FIRST marching band in Florida to win both state championships in the same competitive season.

Garrison-Jones Elementary students participated in a Mobile Stem Academy set up to teach them about insulation.

Oakhurst Elementary Gives Back

Oakhurst Elementary Gives Back was a heart‑warming evening dedicated to supporting and uplifting the community. Students jumped into hands‑on service projects, crafting dog toys and cat treats, assembling goodie bags for volunteers, and writing letters paired with care packages for troops. They also created festive ornaments to brighten the holidays for local senior citizens. The night was filled with generosity, teamwork, and a shared spirit of giving that truly showcased the heart of Oakhurst.

Lealman Avenue Elementary hosted a magical Reading Under the Stars event on Thursday night, 11/13, blending reading, writing, and science into one unforgettable experience. Families explored a traveling planetarium set up in the multi‑purpose room, viewed Saturn through a telescope, enjoyed cozy reading time in the media center illuminated with galaxy lights, created moon craters, and wrote about astronauts and their journey to the moon—all while having a fantastic time together.

Extra Yard Award winner Airelle Woods

Airelle Woods is an exemplary school counselor for the Early College and Early Admission Programs at SPC Seminole and SPC St. Pete/Gibbs. She was recognized on December 2, 2025, as an educator who goes the Extra Yard through the College Football Playoff Foundation.

Holiday Bash at Campbell Park

Melrose Elementary School celebrated its very first Holiday Bash at Campbell Park in St. Petersburg on Saturday, 12/13/25, bringing the community together with giveaways, games, delicious food, and tons of festive fun.

Countryside High College Tour

On December 2nd, the College & Career Center and the AVID Department at Countryside High School proudly completed their 11th college tour of the semester.

Sutherland Elementary Holiday Scavenger Hunt

Sutherland Elementary Staff finished the year with a holiday picture scavenger hunt.  Staff scurried about the campus in groups taking group photos with various holiday items.  It was a fun activity that resulted in a prize for the group that captured all of the photos first.  

Bay Point Elementary’s 4th‑ and 5th‑grade scholars welcomed City Councilman Corey Givens Jr. as the guest speaker for the Black History Month assembly.

Bay Point Elementary’s 4th‑ and 5th‑grade scholars welcomed City Councilman Corey Givens Jr. as the guest speaker for the Black History Month assembly. Councilman Givens shared powerful stories of local African American heroes and the lasting impact they have made on our community and beyond. His message encouraged students to learn, reflect, and dream big.

National Elementary Art Honor Society at Plumb Elementary.

Plumb Elementary held the induction ceremony for its pilot National Elementary Art Honor Society chapter on Monday, April 13th. Nine 5th‑grade students were welcomed as inaugural members. As one of only two pilot chapters in the state of Florida, this event marked an exciting milestone for our school. To make the occasion even more memorable, students and their families created ceramic paint palettes together following the formal ceremony.
